Ellsworth grapplers rise to challenge and win regional title
Pressed by a strong St. Croix Central squad, the No. 3 ranked Ellsworth High School wrestling team rose to the occasion and won the school's 40th WIAA regional wrestling title Saturday

ELLSWORTH, Wis. - Pressed by a strong St. Croix Central squad, the No. 3 ranked Ellsworth High School wrestling team rose to the occasion and won the school's 40th WIAA regional wrestling title Saturday.
EHS scored 276 points to 220 for SCC. Somerset scored 186 to finish third.
The Panthers only had four champions in the whole meet: Jens Lantz at 113 pounds, Brent Stockwell at 126, Roarke Langer at 132 and Parker Hines at 195. But Ellsworth qualified seven additional wrestlers who finished second including Cody Raebel at 106, Logan Kemmerer at 145, Ryan Dickhausen at 152, Dennis Schutz at 160, Gabe Frandsen at 170, Hank Holdorf at 220 and Brody Kemmerer at 285.
Ellsworth's individual sectional qualifiers compete in the sectional at Osceola next weekend while the team wrestles Tuesday in Somerset in the team sectional. The Panthers' semifinal dual at 6 p.m. is vs. Amery. No. 8 Neillsville/Loyal/Greenwood wrestles Rice Lake in the other semifinal.
