Sunday State Sports Briefs: Bucks can't hold lead vs. Magic

Wisconsin Sports
-- The Milwaukee Bucks held a 10-point lead with 5:45 left in last night’s game against Orlando, but couldn’t hold on. Led by Jason Richardson, the Magic outscored Milwaukee 21-6 the rest of the way to take a 99-94 victory at the Bradley Center.

MILWAUKEE - The Milwaukee Bucks held a 10-point lead with 5:45 left in last night’s game against Orlando, but couldn’t hold on. Led by Jason Richardson, the Magic outscored Milwaukee 21-6 the rest of the way to take a 99-94 victory at the Bradley Center.

Richardson scored 28 of his 31 points in the second half, hitting all nine of his shots from outside the three-point line. Though the Bucks held Magic superstar Dwight Howard to 11 points, they never managed to slow down Richardson. It was the 11th time in 13 games Milwaukee has lost to the Magic.

University of Wisconsin-Green Bay star Julie Wojta has been outstanding this season, but the senior may have had her best game Saturday in a 64-59 win over Wright State. Wojta scored 30 points, grabbed 20 rebounds and also added eight steals in the victory. She helped her Phoenix teammates bounce back from their only loss of the season against Detroit two days before. She also had four blocked shots and five assists as the Phoenix improved their record to 21-1, 11-1 in the Horizon League. Wojta hadn’t even attempted a shot in the first eight minutes, when she exploded for 15 straight points in a five-minute span, putting Green Bay on top late in the first half. The Phoenix are going for their 13th straight Horizon League championship.

Corey Pavin is still in the lead at the Allianz Championship, but he has some company. Peter Senior moved into a tie by the end of yesterday’s second round. Both golfers are at 10 under par. The only Wisconsin golfer in the field is Rhinelander native Dan Forsman. He shot a one over par 73 Saturday and is one over par going into today’s third round, 11 shots behind the leaders and tied for 49th place.
