Morning State Sports Briefs: UWM hosts Cleveland State

Wisconsin Sports
-- The UW-Milwaukee men's basketball team will host Cleveland State tonight. Both teams will try to snap two-game losing streaks.

MILWAUKEE - The UW-Milwaukee men's basketball team will host Cleveland State tonight. Both teams will try to snap two-game losing streaks.

The Panthers were pounded at Wright State on Sunday, after losing by a point at Detroit last Friday night. Cleveland State is coming off losses to Valparaiso and Butler. Milwaukee is 8-7 in the Horizon League, and 15-12 overall. UWM is in sixth place, but is just one game out of third. And the Panthers are in good shape for hosting a Horizon League tournament game in two weeks. Cleveland State comes in with a 10-4 conference mark. The Vikings are 20-6 overall. Starting point guard Kaylon Williams is finally getting some rest, as freshman backup Shaquille Boga improves. Williams has averaged almost 34 minutes a game, the fourth-highest in the league. Coach Rob Jeter says he's more confident about using Boga to give Williams a breather. Boga played a season-high 21 minutes against Wright State.

Also tonight, the UW-Green Bay men host Youngstown State. And the Marquette University women play at South Florida.
