ST. JOSEPH, Minn. -- Many in Minnesota's farm community are worried continuing drought could damage farm income unless sufficient moisture comes along.

A strong agricultural sector helped Minnesota get through the recession as farmers enjoyed good yields and prices.

Valentine's day begins on a white note for southern Minnesotans this morning. The National Weather Service reports just over two-inches of snow fell through late Monday in Mower and Winona counties, while many other spots received over an inch. Slick roads are the result for some drivers this morning and dense fog is a factor in southwestern Minnesota.

Minnesota economist Louis Johnston says Minnesota needs to create jobs where the jobless are. He says places like St. Cloud and Duluth have unemployment rates above the state average but lack the kind of job opportunities found in the Twin Cities metro.
