Groups to focus on library’s future

The Ellsworth Public Library will hold several focus group meetings in March to learn what the community feels about the local library.
The library is asking for volunteers to participate in these groups. What is a focus group? Members of the community come together to discuss and share what they feel the library does well, what can be improved upon and where they would like to see the library be in the future.
Several groups of 10 or more individuals meet to answer questions and share their thoughts, all under the direction of a leader. The focus groups will be led by the Indianhead Federated Library System Director John Thompson. Meetings will be held over the course of two days—Monday, March 19, and Tuesday, March 20.
The focus groups will be divided into several categories, including: seniors, teens, community and business leaders, education representatives, cultural and service groups, parents of pre-school and school-aged children, village and library board members, and library staff. The library hopes to have users of the library step forward and share their thoughts, as well as those non-users in the community.
This is an opportunity to “have a say” in what the local library offers, suggest improvements and help direct the library’s future. The library will try to include everyone who volunteers, but participation is not guaranteed. Refreshments will be available and it will be an enjoyable time!
