PLUM CITY - Mondovi used a 25-point third quarter to beat the Plum City girls basketball team 52-40 Thursday in Plum City.
The Buffaloes made 10 of 15 shots in the third quarter to break a 15-15 halftime tie.
“The story of the game is they got hot in the third quarter,” Blue Devils head coach John Pollock said. “Once they got a little lead they started shooting with a little confidence.”
Ashley Larson got Mondovi (15-5, 12-2 Dunn-St. Croix) rolling in the third quarter, Pollock said, and she finished with 14 points. Jenna Franzwa and Sarah Kopp scored 11 points each in the victory.
Junior Heather Von Holtum led Plum City (5-11, 5-9 Dunn-St. Croix) with 12 points. Senior Tiffany Clare added 11 points. The Blue Devils made 6 of 8 free throws and shot 15-for-54 from the field.
Plum City led 13-8 at the end of the first quarter but scored just two points in the second quarter as both teams went cold. Neither team scored for the final few minutes of the first half, Pollock said.
The Blue Devils play Elk Mound Tuesday in Elk Mound.
