Panther boys' hoops rip Osceola 64-43

Three players reached double figures Friday for the Ellsworth boys basketball team in a 64-43 victory over Osceola in Ellsworth.

Lemoine Steffen led the Panthers (12-7, 8-5 Middle Border) with 21 points and finished with eight rebounds while Travis Kroll chipped in 17 points and seven rebounds. Adam Kearns scored 13 points and Alex Campbell had 10 rebounds for Ellsworth, which won for the fifth time in six games.

The Panthers held a 31-18 lead at halftime and opened up a 21-point lead by the end of the third quarter.

Ellsworth shot 49 percent from the field and went 8 of 19 on 3-point attempts.

The Panthers forced 13 turnovers and got into transition quickly.

“Defensively we did a great job of getting our hands out on passes,” Ellsworth head coach Cory Brathol said. “We got some real big turnovers with those tip passes.”

Lincoln Howard led Osceola with 23 points.
