PHOENIX - Milwaukee Brewers' left-hander Zach Braddock says he's ready to win back his old job in the bullpen. Yesterday was the first official workout for pitchers-and-catchers at Spring Training.
Left-hander Mark Rogers said he was also ready for a fresh start, after surgeries on both wrists last summer. The 26-year-old Rogers, the Brewers' first-round draft choice in 2004, has been riddled with injuries in the minors. He was shut down last year with bi-lateral carpal tunnel syndrome in his wrists -- and he drew a 25-game suspension which he blamed on trying medicines for his wrist pain. Rogers has about a week left to serve. Braddock had a decent season in 2010 with an ERA of under-three, but he got derailed last year.
Braddock was sent down to the minors after showing up late for games. He also missed time with a sleep disorder. And after building a 7.27 ERA in 25 appearances, Braddock ended his season early due to personal issues. He said it was one-thing-after-another last year. But he says he has regrouped, and is ready to get back-on-track.
