SPRING VALLEY--As a way to connect school and families, the Spring Valley Elementary School POPS Committee schedules two “breakfast get-togethers.”

“Doughnuts for Dads” was a well-attended event held Feb. 3. Fathers (or their stand-ins) and their children came to have a donut, “make a memory” and meet the teachers and staff, as well as parents of their children’s classmates. There was a large turnout, meaning only eight donuts out of 45 dozen (that’s 540 donuts) were left afterward.

Organizers commend Kwik Trip in Wilson for coordinating the donuts as well as their donation of a remote-control four-wheeler that was raffled off. All students were eligible to win and one of the lucky third graders, Tyler Zurn, was all smiles that morning when his name was announced as the winner of the four-wheeler.
