Webb foiled again in state finals

Spring Valley/Elmwood's Brady Webb was again denied the gold medal at the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament.

MADISON - Spring Valley/Elmwood's Brady Webb was again denied the gold medal at the WIAA State Individual Wrestling Tournament.

Two takedowns in the first period by Oshkosh Lourdes Austin Loos were the difference in a 5-3 loss in the 120-pound final in Division 3 Saturday evening in the Kohl Center.

Webb got an escape in the second period to make the score 4-2 and while riding Loos in the third closed the gap to 4-3 with a penalty point for stalling. But he could not turn Loos over while riding him in the third period.

It was the third such heartbreaking loss Webb has suffered in the state finals. In 2010 he was beaten 2-1 by DeSoto's Evan Miller and last year lost in double overtime to Coleman's Chet Birr by a 2-1 score. Webb made the state tournament in all four of his seasons in high school and will be a part of Spring Valley/Elmwood first ever state team tournament squad.
