TO THE EDITOR: Girls On The Run is starting up again in two weeks and we want to get the word out to all parents, grandparents and adult friends of girls in grades 3-5 who want to help them become awesome women.

Girls On The Run is a program that uses running as a tool to teach girls about themselves and how they fit into the world. Trained coaches use a proven curriculum to reinforce good, societal values like self-worth, tolerance and a global view. Running is a small part of the equation.

Learning that small accomplishments are great experiences that bring them to a new level of self-awareness and growth is an important part of growing up and of this program. You don’t have to win the race, be proud you got into it.

Isn’t that what we want every girl to learn? Be proud of who you are and grow with what you were given are great lessons.

Please help our young girls register for this program through the Community Ed office of the Ellsworth Community School District, Prescott School District and Red Wing School District. Make a difference in a girl’s life. To learn more: www.girlsontherunbc.org.
