Raiders advance to regional finals

GILMANTON - Elmwood High School boys' basketball team devastated Gilmanton with a 23-10 second quarter run which led to a 72-57 WIAA Division 5 regional semifinal win Friday evening.
The Raiders play in the regional finals tonight at 7 p.m. in Chippewa Falls against No. 6 ranked McDonell, which won its semifinal game easily 61-32 over Eau Claire Immanuel Lutheran.
EHS outscored the Panthers, 18-4 overall, 21-12 at the free-throw line as three Gilmanton starters fouled out. The Panthers Dustin Oseau led all scorers with 23 points but no one else for Gilmanton was in double figures.
By contrast Elmwood had three players in double figures led by Seth Jones's 18 points, 17 from Kyle Webb and 14 points from Logan Wolf.
The Raiders, 19-5 overall, are aiming for their first regional title since 2003.
