The WIAA Division 2 Marshfield Sectional semifinal between Rice Lake and Onalaska Thursday has been moved to UW-Stout's Johnson Fieldhouse in order to house what could be one of the largest single-game sectional crowds in western Wisconsin in Division 2 history.
A crowd which could reach or exceed 3,000 persons is anticipated for this clash of two of the best Division 2 teams in the state which feature several collegiate Division 1 recruits.
For those who can get a ticket the game will be livestreamed online at Fox Sport Wisconsin at http://www.foxsportswisconsin.com/pages/prepzone.
Onalaska, 23-1, has 6-4 junior guard Matt Thomas, who has scholarship offers to Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa State; along with his teammate, the UW-Green Bay bound Nick Arenz, a 6-9 senior center.
Rice Lake, also 23-1, is led by University of Minnesota bound Wally Ellenson, a 6-5 senior forward and the team's leading scorer at 21.4 points per game. But perhaps the best all-around player on the Warriors' squad is 6-8 freshman forward Henry Ellenson, considered one of the best freshman players in the state.
The winner of this sectional match-up will take on either Antigo or Rhinelander, who are playing in Wausau the same night. The sectional final game is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. in Marshfield.
