A Somerset man was injured in a stabbing attack on Sunday, March 4.
The St. Croix County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to 1952 County Road I in rural Somerset at around 10:20 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses told deputies that the suspect in the incident was a tall black male, who allegedly walked away from the scene.
While responding to the scene, Somerset Police noticed a man matching the description. They took George Willie Elmore, 51, Somerset, into custody and he is being held in the St. Croix County jail. Elmore was booked on attempted first degree homicide, aggravated battery, reckless injury, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia charges.
The victim of the stabbing was Timothy P. Burdick, 41, of rural Somerset. According to the sheriff's report, Burdick claims he arrived home with his girlfriend when he was confronted by Elmore in the driveway.
Burdick claimed that Elmore was angry because Burdick had allegedly "disrespected" Elmore.
According to the report, Elmore allegedly produced a knife and warned that we was going to kill Burdick. Burdick was stabbed multiple times in the abdomen and legs.
"I want to assure everyone that this appears to be a targeted attack and with the suspect in custody," said Sheriff John Shilts. "There is no further danger to the public."
Burdick was transported via ambulance to Regions Medical Center in St. Paul, Minn.
The incident remains under investigation.
