OSCEOLA - Authorities in northwest Wisconsin were still trying to get final confirmation this morning on the identities of two people killed in a house fire yesterday.

Polk County Sheriff Pete Johnson said the victims appear to be a mother and her daughter from the town of Osceola. He said they’re pretty sure about the identities, but their names won’t be released until they’re 100-percent certain.

The blaze broke out yesterday morning. Johnson said the fire was concentrated within the walls and the ceiling, so it took about seven hours before they could search for anyone. The first victim was found right away, and the second victim was found about three-and-a-half hours later. Johnson said a resident of the house was out walking his dog at the time – and he was sent to a hospital due to a previous medical issue.
