Menard not hurt after accident in Colorado

- NASCAR driver Paul Menard of Eau Claire escaped injury yesterday while riding in a truck that hit a patch of ice and slammed into several trees in Colorado.

EVEGREEN, CoL. - NASCAR driver Paul Menard of Eau Claire escaped injury yesterday while riding in a truck that hit a patch of ice and slammed into several trees in Colorado.

Fellow driver Regan Smith was behind-the-wheel. Smith, his wife, a family friend, and Menard were on their way to a ski slope in Vail when their truck lost control. It happened about 8:45 yesterday morning, close to Smith’s mountain home.

Both Menard and Smith still plan to race on Sunday in the NASCAR Sprint Cup race in Las Vegas.
