Walker sets up legal defense fund, now apparent target of investigation

MILWAUKEE - It looks like Governor Scott Walker may be the target of an investigation after all. Wisconsin’s governor said yesterday he has set up a legal defense fund to pay two attorneys to represent him in a Milwaukee County case.

Walker had previously said he was cooperating with investigators, but had never confirmed he was a target. He has not been charged with any crime. His spokeswoman says the governor has been told he is not the target.

The so-called John Doe investigation has resulted in charges being filed against five people who worked for Walker, or were associated with him when he was Milwaukee County Executive.
