Sunday State Sports Briefs: Brewers lose two split squad games

Wisconsin Sports
-- Two split squad games resulted in two losses for the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday.

PHOENIX - Two split squad games resulted in two losses for the Milwaukee Brewers Saturday.

Mat Gamel pounded his third home run of the spring in a 13-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants. It was a three-run blast in the fourth inning. Nyjer Morgan came out of the game when he was hit in the helmet by a first-inning pitch. The second split-squad game saw the Chicago Cubs win 6-1. Chris Narveson went three and two-thirds innings for the Brewers, the longest performance for a Milwaukee pitcher so far this spring. A home run by shortstop Alex Gonzalez produced Milwaukee’s only run.
