CARE 4 Kids, Ptacek's unite for Prescott youth

Ptacek’s IGA of Prescott donated a portion of all their profits from sales on apples, pudding, milk and cheese from Feb. 23-25 to CARE 4 Kids’ education grant fund.

PRESCOTT--Ptacek’s IGA of Prescott donated a portion of all their profits from sales on apples, pudding, milk and cheese from Feb. 23-25 to CARE 4 Kids’ education grant fund.

Lisa Jenkover, who is a CARE 4 Kids board member, said, “It is such a pleasure working with Pat and Joy at Ptacek’s. They understand our vision at CARE 4 Kids and wanted to support us. And, as a parent, I just loved the concept of purchasing items we need and use, and without a crazy mark-up.”

CARE 4 Kids is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization whose mission is to support and provide opportunities for the well-being of children and youth in Prescott. Their vision is to make every Prescott child's potential a reality.

Here are some programs they have done to support youth in the Prescott community:

--PSD Staff Appreciation Brunch- 2010;

--Prescott Daze Sand Volleyball Tournament- 2010;

--Pet Parade and costume contest- 2010, 2011;

--Father/Daughter Dance- 2011;

--PHS graduates and fifth grade DARE graduates connection- 2011 and 2012;

--Math Camp- 2011;

--Prescott Daze Fun Run Obstacle Course- 2011;

--Welcome Back Celebration and Supplies to PSD teachers and staff- 2011;

--Girls Basketball Buddy Program- 2011-12;

--Middle School Teachers and Staff Appreciation dessert- 2012;

--Support the MS Parent Committee at DI competition- 2012;

--Mother/Son event for the community- coming in June 2012.

Jenkover reported the CARE 4 Kids raised just under $900 for their newly formed educational grant program. It was a huge success and they are considering making it an annual or semi-annual tradition. The program allocates funds to the Prescott School District staff through an annual grant request process after review from the grant committee.

Kids got in on the positive effort, too. They volunteered hours by bagging groceries and passing out product flyers at Patcek’s entryway.

Jenkover said, “The schools were also very supportive in helping us get the word out, and Great River Road Printing also pitched in by donating color printed flyers. Thanks to all who came through the doors to grocery shop 4 Kids!”
