Colfax boys make state tournament after sectional win
The Colfax High School boys’ basketball team qualified for its first WIAA state tournament since 1978 after beating Boyceville in the Division 4 Eau Claire North Sectional final 55-41.
The Colfax High School boys’ basketball team qualified for its first WIAA state tournament since 1978 after beating Boyceville in the Division 4 Eau Claire North Sectional final 55-41.
The No. 7 ranked Vikings, 24-2 overall, outscored the Bulldogs, 15-12 overall, 19-10 in the fourth quarter broke the game in Colfax’s favor.
Colfax’s Austin Huss led all-scorers with 22 points and the Vikes’ 6-5 center Lane Olson scored 14 points. No one was in double figures for Boyceville.
The Vikings take on No. 1 ranked Whitefish Bay Dominican, 25-1 overall, in the state semifinals at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday at the Kohl Center in Madison.
Colfax is the lone area conference survivor in boys’ basketball as Somerset was crushed in the Division 3 sectional finals at River Falls Saturday, 52-29 by No. 2 ranked Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau.
