Ten snowmobilers have been killed in Wisconsin this winter – just six fewer than this time a year ago, when the entire state had a lot more snow.
The two latest deaths occurred last Friday in the far north, which had a healthy snow cover until it got a lot warmer the past few days.
A man killed in a Bayfield County crash was identified yesterday as 37-year-old Brad Snyder of Onalaska. Authorities said he lost control of his snowmobile on a trail and hit several trees. It happened early Friday morning near Port Wing. Snyder died from head injuries. In Hurley, authorities said a 39-year-old Illinois man failed to stop at a stop-sign – and his snowmobile collided with a Hurley city snow-plow. He died later at a hospital.
