Jeff Hines wanted to offer another avenue for his clients beyond auctions.

Fred Winkler was looking for a new tenant after Edina Realty left Prescott.

The two longtime friends started talking and agreed to go into business together. The end result was Farm Home Land Realty, which opened last month in two locations--Ellsworth and Prescott.

Hines explained the real estate business will be a separate entity of the popular auction service.

“When I got my broker license last summer, I wanted to expand our business,” he said.

Winkler said the Prescott location, at 201 Broad St., will be staffed by three agents--himself, Tom Frey and Jeny Finch, who have over 50 years of real estate experience. Hines, Farm Home Land Realty’s CEO, is currently the only realtor out of the Ellsworth office.

“We will be serving all of Western Wisconsin,” Winkler said. “Our agents are very knowledgeable.”

Both expressed the good start the business is off to, as four closings were scheduled for this month.
