TO THE EDITOR: On President’s Day, in front of the White House, 400 active duty military and veterans in military formation turned their backs on President Obama to demonstrate respect for the constitution and disapproval of the president’s policy.
After turning their backs, they held a salute lasting one second for each active service person who committed suicide during the Obama regime. That was not an easy task, as they stood at salute for more than eight minutes. The media did not cover the event.
Those courageous men and women support the only presidential candidate that has demonstrated fidelity to the constitution, Ron Paul. They are a part of a larger group of military personnel who show their overwhelming support for Congressman Paul and made him the candidate who received more military contributions than all other candidates combined.
Recently, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta testified at a Senate Armed Services Committee Congressional Hearing, where he said “legal” basis was needed to develop a no-fly zone over Syria. He admitted the administration is waiting for international permission, not congressional permission, to go to war. By the way, in the constitution, Article 1, section 8, (about line 11) says “The congress shall have the power...To declare war.”
The partisan establishment warns “Ron Paul’s foreign policy is dangerous,” but fails to explain “To whom” it is dangerous. The military-industrial complex would suffer and many politicians are invested in companies who supply the military. The American domination of global politics would suffer and politicians find it easier to kill foreign leaders than invest efforts in diplomacy.
The two forces Benjamin Franklin said “Motivate men to move heaven and earth for...” “Avarice and ambition” (the love of money and power) also move men to war.
Our fascist dictator is defaulting constitutional powers to foreign entities.
