Colfax boys lose in the state semifinals
Wisconsin Sports-- Unbeaten Cuba City will play Whitefish Bay Dominican tomorrow for the Division-Four boys’ state high school basketball title.
Unbeaten Cuba City will play Whitefish Bay Dominican tomorrow for the Division-Four boys’ state high school basketball title. Both teams won their semi-final games last night in Madison. The Cubans improved to 27-and-0 with a 72-to-27 rout of Oshkosh Lourdes. Cuba City led by 14 after the first quarter, and had a 20-to-2 run in the third period. Whitefish Bay Dominican earned its spot in the title game with a 67-to-44 win over Colfax. Diamond Stone had 14 blocked shots, setting a W-I-A-A record for all divisions. He also had 15 points and 15 rebounds for Dominican. In Division-Five, Racine Lutheran and Sheboygan Lutheran won their semi-finals yesterday and will square off in tomorrow’s championship contest. Racine Lutheran led 43-to-9 at the half, en route to a 64-35 victory over Drummond. Racine Lutheran scored 24 points off turnovers. Sheboygan Lutheran came from behind late in the fourth quarter to eliminate Chippewa Falls McDonell 63-61. Wisconsin Badger recruit Sam Dekker had 35 points, 16 rebounds, seven blocked shots, and four assists for Sheboygan Lutheran.
Semi-finals will be played today in the other three divisions. Brillion and Lodi will kick things off at 9:05 this morning in the Division-Three semis, followed by Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau against Marshall. The Division-Two semi-finals will be played this afternoon. Kaukauna plays De Forest. And Milwaukee Pius goes against Onalaska. The Division-One semis are up tonight. Undefeated Germantown plays Madison Memorial, the only defending champion still alive in the tournament. And Oshkosh North will close out the evening against Milwaukee King.
