Navy okays contract with Marinette Marine for two more combat ships

-- The U.S. Navy has okayed a $715 million dollar contract modifications with Marinette Marine to cover the costs of two more littoral combat ships.

MARINETTE - The U.S. Navy has okayed a $715 million dollar contract modifications with Marinette Marine to cover the costs of two more littoral combat ships.

The USS Little Rock and Sioux City are the third and fourth in a 10-ship contract first awarded in December 2010.

Marinette Marine is building the ships in Marinette where it plans to double its indoor production area and add two new buildings work on the ships. Hundreds of people have been hired to work on the huge ship-building program. In all, more than 700 companies share at least some portion of the work on the littoral combat ships being built.
