A passenger on a golf cart was airlifted to Regions Hospital Sunday evening after falling off the cart and striking his head on pavement.

The incident occurred at about 6:40 p.m. March 18 near N7695 50th St. in the town of Spring Lake.

According the Deputy Robin Kivel of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, a golf cart driven by Brady Webb, 18, Elmwood, was carrying three teenaged passengers southbound on 50th Street when one of them, Nicholas Berg, 17, Spring Valley, lost his grip and fell from the cart.

Berg was airlifted from the scene to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with undetermined injuries. He was later taken to Gillette Children's Hospital, where a spokesperson said Thursday, he was discharged and went home Tuesday.

Neither the driver nor the other passengers – Kyle Shafer, 19, and Cody Shafer, 18, both of Spring Valley – was injured.

The deputy reported that neither speed nor alcohol was a factor in the accident.

Assisting at the scene were Elmwood Area Ambulance and Fire Department, Spring Valley Police Department and Mayo One helicopter.
