Green Bay Packers’ safety Nick Collins says he’ll have his surgically-repaired neck evaluated in the next week-or-two – and he’ll then decide whether he can play this fall. Collins suffered a severe neck injury last September when Carolina running back Jonathan Stewart tried to hurdle over him. The Pro Bowl safety has said he wants to tell the Packers about his playing status before next month’s N-F-L Draft – so the Packers can decide if they’ll need to choose another safety. Collins underwent surgery last fall to repair a bulging neck disc. A bone graft was moved from his hips to his neck. For now, Collins says he’s been working out and staying in shape. He does not have an exact date for meeting with his doctor.
