Videos for the community’s sesquicentennial celebration and to benefit youth were proposed to the Ellsworth Chamber of Commerce Thursday.

Linda Flanders of Taproot, Inc., and the Pierce County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council (PCCJCC) pitched one video idea to help promote the village’s 150th anniversary. Flanders envisioned video clips being taken of events related to the celebration, then compiled as a music video complete with fireworks coverage. She foresaw this being shown on the computer internet.

“Whenever you get it on video, it’s out there working for you,” she later said.

Specifically about a June 3 activity highlighting antiques and collectibles, Flanders said she has a special clip in mind. She’d like to recruit local Auctioneer Jack Hines of the chamber, along with someone willing to play a grandmother’s role, and to obtain use of an antique store as a backdrop.

Another separate project is a product of her work with the PCCJCC, she said. Such councils are being formed nationwide as people realize the time and expense in adjudicating criminal cases has gotten beyond what can be afforded.
