OSCEOLA - A driver is still on the loose, after leading authorities on a high-speed chase for 53 miles in northwest Wisconsin on Tuesday.
It started in Osceola, when police stopped an SUV for a traffic violation. Officials said the vehicle sped away and went north on Highway 35, and avoided road spikes that were put down to try and flatten the suspects’ tires. Several items were thrown at officers from the SUV – including a tool box and a spare tire. After about 40 minutes, the chase ended in a field.
A police dog later caught a 22-year-old passenger who was from Hinckley, Minn. But a helicopter from the Minnesota State Patrol could not track down the other suspects. All told, 10 law enforcement agencies were involved in the chase.
