A Farmington man with a history of mental illness has admitted to trying to have sex with a 14-year-old girl.

Isaac Brooks, 32, is being held at Dakota County Jail on three charges of attempted criminal sexual conduct for attacking the girl late Monday afternoon. Brooks has a significant relationship with the girl.

According to the complaint filed by the Dakota County attorney’s office, Brooks approached the girl in his home. He allegedly carried the girl to a bedroom and attempted to remove her pants. She was able to get away and ran to another part of the house. He again grabbed her and took her to another bedroom, where he took his shirt off. The girl was able to fight him off. She then ran outside to a friend’s house and contacted police.

Farmington police apprehended Brooks. While in police custody, the complaint reads, “Brooks admitted that he was trying to have sex with the 14 year old child.”

Brooks was committed to Regions Hospital for mental illness in 2009, and again in 2010. He was discharged last July.

He is being held on one count of attempted criminal sexual conduct in the first degree, and two counts of attempted criminal sexual conduct in the second degree.
