MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota football coach Jerry Kill will put his team through a spring practice session today at the Gibson-Nagurski Football Complex.

This will be the first practice the team has gone through since the death of former linebacker Gary Tinsley last Friday. A Saturday workout was canceled. Kill says he is taking a "one-day-at-a-time" approach in helping his players through a difficult time. Minnesota will host its annual spring game on April 21st at TCF Bank Stadium.

The University of Minnesota has established a memorial fund for the family of former Gopher football player Gary Tinsley. The outgoing senior linebacker passed away last Friday in his on-campus dormitory room at the age of 22 The Golden Gopher Fund will manage the memorial fund, with proceeds helping his family cover funeral expenses, as well as helping pay for his former teammates to travel to the funeral in Florida.

Tinsley was from Jacksonville, Florida and was just a few weeks away from becoming the first member of his family to earn a college degree. The University awarded the degree to his family late last week. For information on how to donate to the fund, log on to the Gopher athletics website.
