EHS softball stays unbeaten with MBC win

Ellsworth more than doubled its season run total Tuesday in a 12-2 victory over Amery.

AMERY - Ellsworth more than doubled its season run total Tuesday in a 12-2 victory over Amery.

The Panthers (3-0, 2-0 Middle Border) had scored eight runs in their first two games and took advantage of having base runners against Amery.

Ellsworth drew seven walks and had seven hits to jumpstart its offense. Morgan Christopherson went 2-for-3 with a double and four RBI to lead the Panthers. Mariah Diercks went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI and Mackenzie Diercks went 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Ellsworth jumped out to a 5-0 lead after the first inning and made it 6-0 before Amery responded. Amery came back with single runs in the second and third innings, but went quietly the rest of the way.

Halle Hatch held Amery to two hits through six innings. Hatch walked one and struck out three to pick up the win.

Ellsworth hosts Somerset on Thursday. First pitch is at 5 p.m.
