Elmwood teams rally to beat Glenwood City
Elmwood baseball and softball teams found themselves trailing Glenwood City in their respective ballgame Tuesday just across Hwy. 72 from each other. But both squads rallied in the late innings to beat the Hilltoppers.
ELMWOOD - Elmwood baseball and softball team found themselves trailing Glenwood City in their respective ballgame Tuesday just across Hwy. 72 from each other. But both squads rallied in the late innings to beat the Hilltoppers.
The Raider nine baseball team trailed 4-2 after fourth and a half innings but began to get their bats going in the bottom of the fifth to tie the contest and ultimately pull out a 7-6 victory in eight innings, their first of the season. Collin Arneson led Elmwood with four hits and two RBIs.
EHS's softball team was even further behind GC, 10-4 after three and a half innings with Raiders unable to bring home a run with bases loaded in the bottom of the third. But in the fourth inning, Elmwood took the lead at 11-10 with a seven-run rally beginning with Krista Peterson's bases clearing double. Peterson had three hits and six RBIs in the contest. Elmwood went on to win 15-13 in their Dunn-St. Croix opener.
