NY Times author visits Plum City students

On March 27, excited students in Plum City welcomed author Jacqueline West into their classrooms.

PLUM CITY--On March 27, excited students in Plum City welcomed author Jacqueline West into their classrooms.

West is the author of “The Books of Elsewhere,” a fantasy series for young readers. Volume 1, “The Shadows,” was released in July 2010 and Volume 2, “Spellbound,” was released in July 2011. Volume 3, “The Second Spy,” will be released in July 2012.

The best-selling author met with grades third through sixth. She also conducted a writer’s workshop for ninth and 10th graders.

During her presentations, West shared about the writing process from inspiration to publication and what it is like to be a published author. She also included a reading The Second Spy, as well as literary games and welcomed questions from students. Students were also given the chance to purchase autographed copies of her books.

Six lucky elementary students who won an essay contest entitled “Why would you like to have lunch with Jacqueline West” were able to dine with the author.

West is originally from River Falls and currently resides in Red Wing.
