JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Former University of Minnesota football player Gary Tinsley will be laid to rest Saturday in his hometown of Jacksonville. The 22-year-old senior linebacker was found dead last Friday in his on-campus apartment.
Police say there was no sign of foul play but the cause of death has not been determined. Tinsley completed his fourth season with the Gophers last fall and was scheduled to graduate with a business degree next month. The U of M athletic department set up a memorial fund to help pay funeral expenses and to cover travel costs for Gopher teammates attending Tinsley's service and burial.
