EFD removes smoke after house fire

Smoke poured from the eaves and windows were covered with soot from a house fire in the Town of Hartland reported to the Ellsworth Fire Department at 3:20 p.m. Thursday.

Fire fighters threw smoky materials out of the Terry and Barbara Mattson home, N3563 CTH D, Bay City. Unofficial information at the scene indicated at least one occupant was home at the time of the blaze, but was outdoors, and no one was inside. A pet dog had to be accounted for, however.

The fire crew used fans to draw smoke out of the late-model two-story residence. The cause of the fire wasn’t immediately available Thursday afternoon.

Besides the EFD, the Ellsworth Ambulance Service and Pierce County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene, on D, just south of CTH V and south of Hwy. 10.
