LAKE CITY - Ellsworth’s Isaac Hines threw a six-inning no-hitter Thursday in a 12-0 victory over Lake City.
Hines didn’t walk anyone and didn’t strike any hitters out, but did work ahead in the count most of the game. Hines threw first-pitch strikes to 15 of the 19 hitters he faced. He also threw 39 of his 50 pitches for strikes. Hines came within an error of a perfect game.
Hines got run support early on as the Panthers (3-0, 2-0 Middle Border) put up three runs in the first inning and built a 6-0 lead after the third inning. Tyler Marson went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Jacob Betthauser drove in three runs and had a triple and a double. James Georgakas had two RBI and Chandler Flynn had three RBI.
Ellsworth took advantage of five Tigers errors and nine walks. The Panthers added six runs in the sixth.
