SPRING VALLEY--Team Oil, Inc., of Spring Valley has completed a six-month construction addition to the Team Oil Travel Center on Hwy. 29 just west of the intersection with CTH CC.

The addition includes a Subway ® franchise, enlarged deli area, new restrooms and a large dining area. The completion of the addition is the result of five years of planning and six months of construction.

During the six months of construction, owners Eric Huppert and his dad, Tony, contributed over 2,000 man-hours and over 150 hours of their equipment time to the job’s general contractor to get the construction completed. Over 90 surveillance cameras and 80 LED security lights were installed for the public and employees’ safety.

Eric Huppert, president and general manager of Team Oil, plans on having extended hours for the food service. The traveling public will be able to satisfy their hunger needs from 5 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Around 450,000 tourists visit the Spring Valley area recreational attractions each year. The community, home of one of the largest earthen dams in the world, Crystal Cave, along with Wisconsin’s Cheese factories, draws visitors worldwide.

The Travel Center takes a note from Wall Drug’s promotional technique of free water to travelers by providing 10 free RV overnight parking sites, complete with water and electricity. With over 150 paved parking stalls and acres of green space, the center offers the traveling public a destination as well as an oasis of conveniences.

With an average of 650 customers a day creating over $4 million in gross sales per year, Team Oil has continued to grow and expand even during the latest recession. What started out over 60 years ago as a lumber mill providing jobs for the residents of Spring Valley now has been transformed into an oasis for travelers, employing over 30 residents of the Spring Valley area in the 15,000 square foot travel center.

The center’s location makes its success understandable. Over four million people live within one hour of the center. Day trips to Spring Valley’s attractions are the life line and key to future growth.

Tony keeps telling his son, Eric, that he is looking into retirement. Eric keeps telling his dad, Tony, he’s looking into rest homes. This open communication keeps the working relationship active and positive.
