PRESCOTT--After much discussion, the Prescott City Council’s plans for a potential north-south bypass were put on hold April 9.
The council decided to work with the property owners in seeing where they would want the bypass.
There is a time limit, however. Clerk Jayne Brand explained the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) agreed to keep its contract open with engineers for the next six months. Therefore, the issue will be brought back before the planning commission in August and the council in September.
If approved as has been discussed, the bypass would extend from Hwy. 29-35 at its intersection with CTH F on the north to Hwy. 35 southeast of the city limits on the south.
It was also announced the council held the first round of interviews for the city administrator position Friday-Saturday. Seven candidates will interview for the vacancy. Brand said officials hope to pick a candidate by the middle of May.
Monday’s meeting was also the final with Mike Hunter as mayor. Councilman Mark Huber was elected new mayor earlier this month. The council held its annual reorganization meeting Tuesday night.
