LA CROSSE - La Crosse police arrest five women in a prostitution sting, charging them with failing to have a license to function as an escort.
Working as an unlicensed escort imposes a fine of more than $1,300 dollars. Authorities in the La Crosse area say they plan to conduct more undercover operations. The five women were arrested after they agreed to perform sex acts for money. The undercover agents were following up on Internet ads run by escorts promising “companionship” and “pleasure.”
Anyone who wants to work as an escort in La Crosse has to get a $250 license under a new city ordinance. So far, no one has applied for the license. The women are scheduled to return to court next Tuesday.
