Paul supporters chosen as delegates in three congressional districts
Minnesota News-- Supporters of Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex) won delegate slots for the National Republican Party Convention at three Minnesota Congressional District conventions Saturday.
Supporters of Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex) won delegate slots for the National Republican Party Convention at three Minnesota Congressional District conventions Saturday.
Paul swept the three delegate and alternate slots up for election in the Third Congressional District, which consists of the west-metro suburbs; the Sixth Congressional District, which which is the north-metro suburbs and the Fifth Congressional District, which is largely the city of Minneapolis. So far four districts have picked delegates and Paul has won 10 delegates and former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum won two.
The other fourth state Congressional Districts will choose their delegates and alternates next Saturday. The state GOP convention is set for May 4-5 in St. Cloud where the remaining at-large delegates are chosen for the national convention.
The district conventions also endorsed candidates for the House of Representatives. Incumbents Rep. Erik Paulsen in the third and Rep. Michelle Bachmann in the sixth were both endorsed by their respective conventions.
