Twins snap losing streak, beat Yankees 7-3

BRONX, N.Y. -- Joe Mauer went 3-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI as the Minnesota Twins took down the New York Yankees 7-3 last night at Yankee Stadium.

Justin Morneau popped a solo homer for the Twins, who scored the game's final five runs en route to their third win of the season. Carl Pavano struck out six over seven innings to pick up the win against his former team. Derek Jeter and Curtis Granderson hit back-to-back homers in the first for the Yankees.

This was only the third Minnesota win at the new Yankee Stadium in 12 attempts. The same two teams play tonight in New York City.

Twins outfielder Josh Willingham was named the American League Player of the Week prior to last night's game. Willingham batted .455 with a double, three home runs, four RBI and six runs scored in six games last week.
