Prescott, Ellsworth stay unbeaten in MBC play

Both the Ellsworth and Prescott prep baseball teams stayed unbeaten in the Middle Border Conference with wins Tuesday evening.

Ellsworth destroyed Baldwin-Woodville in Baldwin 14-1 in six innings. Winning pitcher Brady Schroeder struck out 14 Blackhawk batters while holding B-W to just one hit. The 'Hawks also committed seven errors.

Dennis Schutz hit two doubles and drove in two runs to lead the Panthers.

Prescott's lone run at home against Osceola came in the fifth inning when Logan Johnson scored on a bases loaded walk. PHS's bats were held in check by Osceola pitcher Alex Freese but Prescott was just as tough on the defensive end and at the mound. Starter Jake Hintz got the win and Billy Brookshaw got the save coming in the sixth inning. He got PHS out of a bases loaded jam with one out in the sixth which was a key turning point in the ballgame. Brookshaw also had a hit. Osceola was held to just three hits.

Both teams will be in action Thursday with PHS hosting Baldwin-Woodville and Ellsworth at New Richmond.
