MADISON - Former University of Wisconsin men’s basketball freshman Jarrod Uthoff says he’ll visit Iowa State and Creighton soon, to find a team that’s a better fit for him. After a week-long national controversy, the Badgers yesterday dropped their insistence that Uthoff not be allowed to transfer to Iowa State, Marquette, or any of the ACC schools.
Wisconsin officials agreed to prohibit Uthoff’s transfer only to other Big Ten schools – and Uthoff says he’s not sure yet if he’ll appeal that decision. After yesterday’s meetings, Badgers’ coach Bo Ryan told reporters he did nothing wrong, and he followed everything by the book. He said he consulted with other coaches who’ve lost players in recent years – and he only pushed the transfer limits so he could talk to Uthoff about his move. Ryan said he couldn’t figure out a better way to handle the situation.
Earlier yesterday, Ryan said he was being vilified by national pundits for doing something other coaches have done.
