Ellsworth softball takes first loss of season

NEW RICHMOND - New Richmond scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat the Ellsworth softball team 5-4 in New Richmond.

The Panthers (4-1, 3-1 Middle Border) had seven hits in the game but made six errors.

Senior Halle Hatch threw a complete game for Ellsworth, giving up 10 hits, no walks and striking out two. Junior Stacie Peterson was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored while junior Morgan Christopherson finished 2-for-3 with a run scored in the loss.

Ashley Langer picked up the win for New Richmond (2-3, 2-2 Middle Border) with eight strikeouts, two walks, seven hits and two earned runs given up in seven innings. Kelsey Gilkison went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored.

The Panthers host Osceola Monday.
