SPOONER - Wildlife and conservation law experts will present an informational meeting on chronic wasting disease next Monday at the high school auditorium in Spooner.
The meeting is open to hunters and anyone interest in learning about the disease. CWD is a disease of the nervous system found in deer, moose and elk. It was recently detected in a wild adult doe found on private property near Shell Lake in Washburn County. That was the first time a deer was found to have the disease in northern Wisconsin. It was detected in southern counties more than a decade ago.
The meeting will start at 7 p.m. at the school, 801 County Highway A. Organizers say the evening will include a question-and-answer session.
