Vehicles were lined up for what could be a record-breaking attendance during the spring Pierce County Clean Sweep Saturday at the recycling center on Ellsworth’s northwest side. Information collectors along the center’s driveway reported finding themselves out on the entrance road, at times, to keep up with traffic. Hazardous waste was brought from households, farms, businesses and institutions to be disposed of by a professional service. Besides the center’s regular services, such as appliances and tires, pharmaceuticals were taken, too. The event is held twice annually.
