MINNEAPOLIS -- Boston's Mike Aviles hit a three-run homer and the Red Sox held on to beat the Twins 7-6 last night at Target Field.

Dustin Pedroia finished 3-for-4 with a pair of runs for Boston, which swept the three-game series. Clay Buchholz lasted five-and-a-third innings for the victory. Alfredo Aceves notched his fourth save. Liam Hendriks gave up seven runs in four-plus innings for Minnesota in the loss. Denard Span started a five-run sixth inning with an RBI-double for Minnesota, but also struck out with the bases loaded in the ninth inning to end the game. Joe Mauer added a run and two RBI in the setback.

Minnesota has lost five in-a-row. The Twins are off today and begin a three-game weekend series against the Royals on Friday at Target Field.
