MENOMONIE - The provost at UW-Stout will soon become the new chancellor at Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville.
A selection committee said today that it chose Julie Furst-Bowe to replace Vaughn Vandegrift, who’s about to retire. The SIU Board-of-Trustees is expected to approve the hiring next month. The campus has about 14,000 students. Furst-Bowe has been at the Stout campus in Menomonie since 1990 as a faculty member. She’s been a graduate program director, department head, and associate vice chancellor over the years.
In 2005, Furst-Bowe was named to her current post as provost and vice chancellor for academic-and-student affairs. She has a master’s degree from Stout in instructional media, and a doctorate in education from Minnesota.
