STEWARTVILLE -- Sergeant Nicholas Dickhut is the second member of the military from the Rochester area to lose his life in Afghanistan.

The 23-year old was on his second tour of duty in Afghanistan with the 520th Infantry Regiment, attached to the 82nd Airborne. He graduated from Stewartville High School and studied at Rochester Community and Technical College before enlisting. Details of Dickhut's death on Sunday have not been released.

He is the first Minnesotan to die in Afghanistan this year -- and the second serviceman from the Rochester area to be killed there. Marine Corporal Curtis Swenson was killed in action two years ago.
